Gambian Chefs Benefit from GTHI, GHA Pastry Program

Score of young Gambian Chefs over the weekend concluded a two-week intensive training on pastry. The special pastry training program was organized by the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute (GTHI) in collaboration with the Gambia Hotel Association (GHA).

The trained chefs were selected from different hotels and also from the Gambia tourism and hospitality institute.

Bunama Njie, Chairman Gambia Hotel Association (GHA) thanked the international trainer for coming to the The Gambia for the training.

He expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the trained chefs and thanked the trainer for his valuable time taken to train the chefs. He said GTHI and GHA collaboration is cemented saying “GTHI is a foundation for the hotels.”

He congratulated and thanked the participants for level attentiveness, understanding and regularity throughout the training which he said was exceptional as per record.

The chairman implored those that have the opportunity to attend the pastry training program to implement what they learned and as well train their colleagues that were not opportune to attend the training due to limited space available.

He noted that in the Gambia tourism industry, there is challenge in term of pastry, but with the just concluded training and others to follow the gap will be closed.

Daouda Niang, Director General GTHI thanked the trainer for his hard work and commitment towards the training. He disclosed that arrangement is on pipeline with the trainer to move to the next level of the training which is ‘master class.’

DG Niang in extension expressed appreciation to the Gambia Hotel Association for the collaboration and support.

Jihad Kassem, Maitre Patissier (trainer) was delighted about the trainees for having passion for the pastry training program. He added that their performance were impressive that everyone who have opportunity to taste their product will attest to it.

Jihad assures that in nearest future the trained chefs will be able to take part in the African and world cup pastry competitions.

The trainers were certificated, thanked GTHI and GHA for the training, and also expressed satisfaction over the training and as well expressed their readiness to take over from the expatriates in nearest future.
