Dr. Nana AGYIIRI Performs 1765 Successful Deliveries At Essau District Hospital

Dr.  Major  Bernard Yaw Nana AGYIRI,   a member of the Ghanaian  ECOMIG Contingent  has performed  1765 successful deliveries and numerous  minor  surgeries under harsh  conditions   during the  eleven months of  his posting at  Essau district hospital in the North Bank Region.

Speaking   to journalists, Momodou Lamin Manneh, Regional Health Director North Bank has commended the Staff of Essau District hospital for accommodating Dr. Bernard   Nana Yaw Agyiri, to serve the community better.

He noted that his presence drastically reduced referrals to Banjul and pregnant women who has benefited from his free scanning services were very happy since it eases the stress of joining the ferry to Banjul for Pelvic Scans.

John Joseph   Mendy,   officer in -charge of the hospital revealed that there hasn’t been any single maternal death since Dr Nana took over the obstetrics and gynaecology department    until the time of the end of his mission in the country.

He explained that upon hearing that Doctor Nana’s has completed his duties in the country ,the community of Essau and its environs were not happy losing such an experience doctor who is always willing to work for extra  duties beyond his normal hours.

Hon Mahtarr Jeng, National Assembly member for Lower Niumi noted that Dr Nana AGYIRI has significantly contributed his quota towards the health delivery system of the Gambia.

He added that the community appreciated his good work and has left a landmark history in the Gambian health delivery system of the country.

He pointed out that during the Minister of Health and Social Welfare visits to the health facilities in the country she   applauded the good work of Dr Nana AGYIRI and the ECOMIG contingent for complimenting the Country’s health sector.

Yankuba Camara,  Senior Nursing officers  at   Essau District hospital explained  that since Doctor was posting in February last  year  he has been helpful  in terms of emergencies and maternity cases  and because of his intervention they  have seen significant progress at the maternity unit.

Lamin Fofana,   head of Outpatient Department at the hospital noted that since the arrival of Doctor Nana Agyiri has significantly eased their work load at the hospital.

For his part Dr Bernard Nana Agyiri thanked the staff and Management of the hospital, Regional Health Management team and the communities of North Bank Region for their support during the course of his eleven months duty as medical officer at Essau district hospital
