Barrow Says Economy Stabilized, Hopes for Growth

President Adama Barrow has praised his administration for stabilizing the economy of the country and expressed hope for its growth.

The Gambian leader made the remark at McCarthy Square in Banjul while presiding over the 54th Anniversary of Gambia’s independence.

“The Gambian economy has been stabilized and we are optimistic that it will continue to grow steadily, to ensure that life and livelihoods improved meaningfully for every citizen”. My government has been persistence in seeking means of reducing the cost of living,” he added.

He also noted that his government has made concerted efforts with the international community’s aimed at reducing price, citing tax reduction and stimulating investment.

Meanwhile, he pointed out the rundown of his registered development plans in the country to have been the launched of roads and bridges projects in the Upper River and North Bank Region, the twin projects of  The Gambia College, and health infrastructures.

He then stated that: “Amongst the progress registered are the recently launched roads and bridges projects in the Upper River Region and North Bank Region. Higher learning Institutions such as the Gambia College and health infrastructures which are the twin projects are been decentralized to promote inclusive development for all Gambians.”

He also assured the populace that his administration’s commitment is making Gambia a heaven hub of education as the education sector is building modern classrooms in various parts of the country to make the learning environment more conducive and accessible.

All Gambians can confirm that my administration has succeeded in stabilizing the country politically to enhance the vibrant political atmosphere in the country, Mr. Barrow suggested.

However, President Barrow urged Gambians to jealously guard the liberty of the country. He then added that the borders of the country are safer than ever before while described the current period of the country as tactful fact-finding initiative and national dialogue.

He subsequently said that: “It is a period of constructive planning and building of a solid foundation to ensure durable intervention as well as resolving for a brighter future for all. As an independent nation, our borders are safer than ever before and personal safety is no longer the threat it was perceived to be.”
