Hon. Lamin Dibba, Executive Member for the United Democratic Party, UDP has said that their plan now is to allow party’s youth to go ahead in steering the affairs of the political party.

He noted that the UDP’s executive were very happy during the last congress for seeing more youth in executive.

“Since the formation of UDP, the party never registers such amount of youths in the executive like the present executive,” Hon. Dibba told hundreds of UDP’s militants on Saturday in a political rally held at India village in Upper Badibou District, North Bank Region.

He cite the National Assembly, saying that   the number of young people representing the party there cannot be compared to the past.

Hon. Dibba who is both a UDP executive member and the minister for Agriculture said this is a clear manifestation that his party has regards for the young people and ready to prepare them to be responsible and competent politicians in the future.

However, he advised the UDP youth not to rush for the positions the elders are handling at the moment, adding that the youth own both UDP as well as the country, saying they [the elders] will guide the youth on the right direction so that they [the youth] will not encounter the challenges that the present party leaders came across in their political carrier.

He noted that UDP is a political party with many structures including the youth wing, saying any youth group apart from the United Democratic Party youth wing is not recognise as a member of the party. “Therefore, if you want to popularize yourself, don’t use the name of UDP,” he added.

He enjoined his constituencies’ committees and regional chairpersons to sieve the UDP militants, if not the executive will go to the grass root level to sieve the party’s supporters properly.

The UDP anchor commended all the party’s militants who attended the political rally purposely to contribute in its advancement in political arena.
