Darboe rejects using Gov’t Vehicle for Rally

Information from a clear source informed The Voice that, Hon. Ousainou Darboe, Leader and Secretary General for the United Democratic Party (UDP) had rejected a number of people who wanted to use government vehicles on the UDP political rally held at India village in Upper Badibou District of North Bank Region.

According to the source shortly before the convoy departs to the political rally, some people brought government’s vehicles to the UDP’s gathering beside Hon. Darboe’s home so as to transport the UDP militants to the political rally.

However, the source added that the Vice President denied them from using all government vehicles in his party’s political rally, the source further revealed that when the party leader rejected them [UDP militants] from using the state’s means of transportation, they decided to use their own private vehicles as well as other commercial cars to convey their militants to the venue.

Meanwhile, The Voice can authoritatively report that there was no government vehicles in the United Democratic Party’s convoy to the rural Gambia and all the delegates were boarded in private cars and other commercial cars [gelegeles] to the UDP stronghold.

The Voice observed that the VP’s official car and other government vehicles were parked beside Hon. Darboe’ s home along pipeline at the time the delegation was leaving for the political rally.

Speaking further the source told this reporter that the UDP leader denied his militants from using the state’s vehicles because he is development oriented person who does not want to undermine the development of the country. “He does not want anything that can tarnish the image of his political party as well,” The source said.
