Ex-VP Debunks Critics

Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, ex-vice president has debunked what she described “fabricated lies against her” for purportedly writing a letter to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) to prevail on President Barrow to hand over power after the end of his three years agreement with Coalition partners.

She made the remarks in an exclusive interview with The Voice in Jarra Soma on the sidelines of the National Convention of the National Reconciliation Party (NRP) on Saturday.

“My son if you bring a Holy Quran here I will tell you it’s not true and if you ask the president he will tell you it’s not true, people have fabricated lies against me but I forgive them,” she said.

She added: “I know those who fabricated those lies but I have forgiven them as Muslims and am happy that President Barrow has known the truth and he stood by the truth and he has invited me on the 16th of August, we spoken about the letter and it was never a letter I wrote.”

According to her, The Gambia was looking for a job at UNEP and that she had to write a recommendation letter on behalf of the president as an acting president then, adding that the letter even passed through the ministry of foreign affairs before reaching to the offices of UNEP as government protocols demands.

She said: “I want to clarify this to the nation that this letter of recommendation I sent to UNEP through the foreign affairs was tampered with, recommendations removed and replace with a note that I knew nothing about. I investigated what went wrong and discovered the truth and those involved in it but HE President Barrow knew this.”

“I am never felt angry for been relieve of her Cabinet position, I will never be angry because HE President Barrow respect me more today than any other time. President Barrow knows that I have worked for this country and I love my country and am ready to go anywhere I am invited to,” she said.
