Minister Bah honoured at Session of the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers in Bahrain

The Minister of Tourism and Culture Hon Hamat NK Bah, recently attended the  Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers that took place in Manama, capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He was accompanied by his Permanent Secretary Ms Cordu Jabang.

The Conference was organized by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and in coordination with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), under the patronage of His Majesty Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain and with the presence of  ministers of culture of OIC Member States, a host of experts, and representatives of Arab, Islamic and international organizations concerned with cultural action.

At the end of the opening session, His Majesty Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain presented the Shield commemorating the celebration of the Bahrain city of Muharraq as the Arab region’s capital of Islamic culture for 2018 to Mr Hamat Bah, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of the Gambia, who is also Vice President of the Tenth Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers and to other dignitaries.

At the closing session, the Conference  issued the “Bahrain Declaration on Safeguarding Human Heritage and Countering Extremism’.

For record, the first Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers was held in Dakar, Republic of Senegal (January 1989), the second in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco (November 1998), the third in Doha, State of Qatar (December 2001), the fourth in Algiers, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria (December 2004), the fifth in Tripoli, Libya (November 2007), the sixth in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan (October 2009), the seventh in Algiers, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria (December 2011), the eighth in Al Madinah Al Munawarrah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (January 2014), the ninth in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman (2015) and the tenth in Khartoum, Republic of the Sudan (November 2017).
