Mboge Asks Gov’t to Explains Gambia-Saudi contract on Migration

Haddy Mboge Barrow, national coordinator for Network against Gender Base Violence (NGBV) has asked the Barrow-led administration to explain a propose migration agreement between the government of the Gambia and Saudi Arabia.

A month ago, the two states agreed on a migration deal –in which Gambians will be traveling to work in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

But the activist said: “We want to know what kinds of work our young people are going to do at Saudi Arabia”, adding I don’t know why the government wants them to go out to develop others country, she said.

She made call while observing 16 days of activism at the Child Fund conference hall, saying that she is against the idea of the issue

I am scared of what is going to happen to the country when the whole young people go to abroad for in search of job opportunity, she said.

She cited Kenyan young women of been subjected to physically and sexually abuse in the Saudi, who were send by their government.

Ms Mboge Barrow said her network condemn any form of sexual violence both in the country and abroad, describing it as severe violation of human rights.

It can be recalled that Kerr Fatou online media house recently published a story were Gambians girls were trafficked to Meddle East countries such as Lebanon and Kuwait were they encountered numerous abuses including rape, discrimination and  financial evade among other maltreatments. BBC also produced a documentary were African girls were physically and sexually violated.
