Gambia Must Be Prepared To Receive Her Citizens-Gajigo

Dr. Ousman Gajigo made an observation that, The Gambia must be prepared to receive her citizens, especially on the verge of deportation from the Diaspora.

In his opinion reaction to the Banjul North lawmaker Ousman Sillah, who is currently on his European tour who urged the European governments to halt their deportation of Gambians?

But Gajigo said: “Someone should sit Honorable Sillah down and explain the reality to him”, adding these deportations “will continue and the rate will increase. Now is not the time to make unrealistic demands.”

He said lawmaker Sillah time would be better spent ensuring that the government is prepared for the ‘thousands of Gambians who are soon to be deported’.

According to him, these complaints were particularly magnified when the US deported 45 Gambians in March 2018, adding the complaints are made in such a way to imply that the government is complicit in the betrayals of its citizens when it intervenes in any way to make deportations possible.

As he further comment, he lay into various commentators including some deportees whom he said have been whipping themselves calling for the ouster of this government, saying ‘belief is fundamentally mistaken.’
