The Gambia is set to host the West African Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship on December 12, 2026, bringing fighters from across the sub-region to Serekunda for a major combat sports event.
Organised by the Gambia Mixed Martial Arts Association (GMMAA), the championship will feature fighters from Senegal, Mali, Guinea-Conakry, Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone and Mauritania, alongside Gambian competitors.
The event is expected to provide an opportunity for fighters to test their skills against international opposition while promoting the development of MMA in The Gambia.
It will also give local fans an opportunity to watch fighters from across West Africa compete on home soil in a regional championship.
The tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 12, at the Westfield Youth Monument in Serekunda, starting at 3 p.m.
The championship is expected to showcase the growing popularity of MMA in the sub-region and strengthen sporting links among participating West African countries.
