The race for promotion to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women’s Division Two is set to intensify in October, with six regional champions set to compete for two promotion places.
The GFF Competition Department has confirmed that the promotion play-offs for the regional women’s third-division champions will be held during the first week of October 2026.
The competition will bring together champions from the country’s six regions, who will be divided into two groups of three teams each.
The participating teams are Scan Aid FC of the West Coast Region, Trust FC of Kanifing Municipality, Koita’s FC of the Central River Region, BK Women’s FC of the Upper River Region, North Star FC of the North Bank Region and Ndims FC of the Lower River Region.
According to the GFF, the winners of the two groups will earn promotion to the Women’s Division Two, making each match crucial in the short promotion campaign.
The Soma Mini Stadium is expected to host the play-offs, although the GFF has yet to announce the exact dates and fixtures.
The promotion tournament is expected to provide an opportunity for the regional champions to compete at the national level while seeking a place in the country’s second-tier women’s football competition.
