Sabi FC and SMC FC recorded important victories on Friday to strengthen their promotion hopes, while Sporting Real and ASM Athletic shared the points in the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division Two National Promotion Playoffs.
Sporting Real and ASM Athletic played out a goalless draw in Bakau, with both sides producing disciplined defensive performances in a closely contested encounter.
In Brikama, Sabi FC defeated Pipeline FC 2-1 in a Group B match to boost their chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition.
At Basori, Central River Region champions SMC FC beat Jam City United 3-1.
Mutarr Sanneh gave SMC FC a two-goal advantage before halftime with a brace.
Jam City United reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute through Muhammed Banora, but Alhagie Dahaba restored SMC FC’s two-goal cushion with a goal in the 72nd minute to seal the victory.
The results leave the race for qualification to the next stage of the promotion playoffs finely poised as teams continue their battle for places in the GFF Division Two.
