Penyem UBS and Abuko UBS have secured places in the finals of the Gambia Secondary School Sports Association (GSSSA) UBS competition after contrasting semi-final victories.
Penyem UBS reached the Boys Final with a 3-1 victory over Sinchu Baliya UBS, while Abuko UBS advanced to the Girls Final following a 4-3 penalty shootout win over St. Vincent de Paul after their semi-final ended goalless.
Penyem UBS dominate Boys semi-final
Penyem took the lead in the 32nd minute through Edrisa Secka before Lamin Sowe doubled the advantage in the 56th minute.
Sowe completed his brace in the 72nd minute to put Penyem firmly in control.
Ousman Saidykhan pulled a goal back for Sinchu Baliya, but Penyem held on to secure a 3-1 victory and a place in the Boys Final.
Abuko UBS prevail on penalties
The Girls semi-final between Abuko UBS and St. Vincent de Paul ended 0-0 after 60 minutes, forcing the match to be decided by a penalty shootout.
Abuko kept their composure from the spot to win 4-3 and book their place in the Girls Final.
The two semi-finals produced contrasting routes to the final, with Penyem advancing through a strong attacking display, while Abuko prevailed in a tense penalty shootout.
