Secretary General of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP), Ebrima Tabora Manneh, has urged Gambian voters to reject attempts by politicians to induce them ahead of the December 2026 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview with The Voice at his residence in Bijilo, Manneh said accepting money or other inducements from politicians could undermine voters’ ability to hold elected leaders accountable.
“If politicians induce you with money or any other means, when they get elected, they will have no interest in addressing your welfare because they are convinced that it was their wealth that secured them the leadership,” he said.
Manneh also cautioned voters against politicians who, he alleged, seek to create divisions within society for political gain.
He urged the electorate to choose leaders with policies capable of addressing the needs of citizens and improving their living conditions.
According to the PAP official, the next government should give greater attention to farmers, strengthen the health sector and create more employment opportunities for women and young people.
He also called for a government that would be responsive to citizens’ concerns and national development needs.
Manneh criticised the administration of President Adama Barrow, accusing it of failing to adequately address the socio-economic difficulties facing Gambians.
He also alleged that the government had failed to tackle corruption effectively, which he said had contributed to poverty and unemployment.
The PAP secretary general expressed confidence that Gambians would vote for a change of government in the December presidential election.
