Yaya Cham on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, where he was charged with careless driving contrary to Section 51(1) of the Motor Traffic Act, Cap 70:3, Volume 10 of the Revised Laws of The Gambia 2009.
Sub-Inspector A. Jallow represented the Inspector General of Police, while Cham appeared without legal representation.
According to the particulars of the charge, Cham allegedly drove a BMW private vehicle, registration number KM 6273 E, without due care and attention at Lamin CDC on Aug. 17, 2026, between 20:00 and 20:30 hours.
The prosecution alleged that his manner of driving resulted in an accident.
The charge was read and explained to Cham, who pleaded guilty.
Following the plea, Sub-Inspector Jallow applied for an adjournment to allow the prosecution to present the facts of the case and tender the relevant documents
