The JAMSAI Foundation of Kotu has extended humanitarian assistance to families in Kerr Ngarta Wollof in Central Badibou, providing clothing, shoes and bags to support needy members of the community.
The initiative forms part of the foundation’s charitable activities aimed at supporting vulnerable and deserving people in communities across The Gambia.
Presenting the donated materials on behalf of the foundation, Haruna Kuyateh underscored the significance of the assistance, saying it was in line with the teachings of the Quran and Hadith, which emphasise sharing, caring and support for those in need.
He said such initiatives were intended not only to provide material assistance but also to bring relief and encouragement to beneficiary families.
Kuyateh assured the community of the foundation’s continued support, noting that its humanitarian activities extend beyond communities in Lower Badibou and Jokadu.
He said the foundation also provides assistance to conventional and Quranic memorisation schools as part of its efforts to support education and improve teaching and learning conditions.
Community leader Mamadou Jallow of Kerr Ngarta Wollof commended the JAMSAI Foundation for extending the humanitarian assistance to the community.
Jallow thanked the foundation for its support, saying the donated materials would contribute to improving the welfare of children and easing the burden on beneficiary families.
Isatou Manneh, a beneficiary and household head, described the donation as timely, saying the assistance would provide much-needed support to families in the community.
She also appealed for additional assistance, particularly in the form of a couscous milling machine, which she said would help support household livelihoods and community needs.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the JAMSAI Foundation for the assistance and called for the continuation of similar humanitarian interventions in the community.
