Gambian philanthropist, Mohamed Al Amin Bah Sunday unveiled a new political movement called ‘With Alliance for Reorientation and Economic Force’ (WAREF), outlining a long-term vision to transform The Gambia into a prosperous, innovative, secure and sustainable nation by 2045.
The movement was launched at the Sea View Hotel, where Bah presented WAREF’s political program and said it was founded on the principles of opportunity, innovation, integrity, unity and sustainable development.
“Today is not merely the unveiling of a political program. It is the presentation of a long-term national vision inspired by hope, driven by ambition and rooted in the belief that The Gambia can achieve far more than it has ever imagined,” Bah remarked.
He said the movement was established because its founders believe politics should be a vehicle for solving problems, creating opportunities and improving people’s lives.
Bah notes that Gambia continues to face problems such as: unemployment, rising living costs, limited opportunities for young people, increasing pressure on public services and the need for faster national development.
He says WAREF seeks to address these challenges through practical policies and long-term solutions aimed at advancing the country’s development.
According to Bah, the movement’s political program is designed to contribute to The Gambia’s future through visionary leadership, responsible governance and inclusive national development.
The philanthropist-turned-politician also confirmed that WAREF would contest the 2026 presidential election.
“We are entering this election with a clear vision, practical policies and a committed team prepared to serve our country,” he said.
Bah called on Gambians to assess the movement on the basis of its ideas, policies and commitment to national progress.
He expresses confidence in WAREF’s prospects, saying the movement is encouraged by the growing support it continues to receive from citizens across the country.
