The Inspector General of Police, Seedy Mukhtar Touray, Wednesday received the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Martin Hackett during a courtesy call held at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.
The special prosecutor was accompanied by his Legal Adviser, Mariama Singhateh.
The visit revolves around formal introductions and discussions on the mandate of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, particularly the operationalization of the Special Accountability Mechanism and the government’s continued commitment to justice and accountability in accordance with the recommendations of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC).
During the meeting, the Inspector General of Police expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Gambia Police Force’s readiness to provide the necessary support and cooperation towards the effective implementation of the initiative.
The Gambia Police Force remains committed to upholding its constitutional mandate and supporting national efforts geared towards promoting justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
