Banjul is set to host the Zone II Men’s Volleyball Qualifiers for the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Men’s Nations Cup, scheduled for Congo Kinshasa in September 2026, officials announced.
The qualifying tournament will take place from 17 to 21 June 2026 and will bring together national teams from across West Africa competing for a single qualification slot to the continental championship.
Officials said the event will position Banjul as a focal point for regional volleyball during the competition period, as teams battle for a place in the CAVB Men’s Nations Cup.
For The Gambia, hosting the tournament is seen as an opportunity to demonstrate its capacity to organize international sporting events, as well as to boost the profile of volleyball in the country.
The national team is expected to benefit from home advantage, with strong local support anticipated during the matches.
The tournament is expected to feature competitive fixtures and highlight the growing standard of volleyball in West Africa as teams vie for qualification to the continental competition.
