The Gambia Police Force has launched an investigation into a suspected cybercrime operation in Tujereng following the seizure of a large quantity of electronic devices and detention of sixty (60) suspects.

According to police report dated September 4, 2025, officers recovered 36 laptops, 174 mobile phones, 32 desktop computers, and several pieces of networking equipment during the operation.

Sixty foreign nationals, believed to be from Asian countries, were taken into custody. Police say the suspects are presumed to be Chinese and Vietnamese, but efforts are on-going to confirm their exact nationalities in collaboration with relevant authorities.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the group may have been involved in fraudulent activities linked to offshore companies, including cryptocurrency investment scams and online recruitment schemes targeting victims abroad.

The Gambia Police Force say investigations are continuing, and it reaffirms its commitment to tackling cybercrime. The public was also advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution when approached with online investment offers that appear suspicious or promise unrealistic returns.
