The Gambia Police Force has taken swift legal action in connection with the recent car drifting incident that occurred at Abuko School, which tragically left a student seriously injured.
The driver, Malick Badjie, was arraigned on Tuesday 22nd July 2025 before Magistrate Dibba of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court. He was charged with one count of reckless and negligent act contrary to Section 190 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge. The police prosecutor presented the facts of the case, and the court adjourned the matter to Thursday, 24th July 2025, for the presentation of the victim’s medical report and sentencing.
Meanwhile, the accused has been remanded at Mile 2 Central Prisons pending the next court sitting.
Badjie recklessly drifted his vehicle within a school zone and striking a Grade 9 student, Abdourahman Bah, who sustained critical injuries. The victim underwent surgery and is currently responding to treatment at the hospital.
