Man charged for Violent Assault

Adam sey on Tuesday appeared before Magistrate E. Colley at Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

According to the charge sheet, Adama sey on16th day of March, 2024 at Bakau willfully assaulted one Ismaila Jallow by stabbing him with a broken bottle on his chest .

Prosecutor M.A Jallow pointed out to the court that, the incident happened on the 16th of March 2024, at Bakauwhilst the accused closed from work, on his way home with some of his mates. He reportedly saw the complainant, Ismaila Jallow, and started to provoke him with insults. The complainant felt provoked and returned back the insults and the accused subsequently attacked the complainant and stabbed him on his chest. The prosecutor went on narrating how the matter was reported at Bakau Police Station and the victim was referred to Kanifing General Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. The hospital issued a medical certificate directed to the Inspector General of Police.

“Your worship I applied to tender the said medical certificate together with a bunch of medical receipts as evidence and be marked as Exhibit,” the Prosecutor remarked before the court.
The said medical certificate, together with a bunch of medical receipts were admitted into evidence and marked as Exhibit A1 to A4.

Prosecutor M.A Jallow further mentioned that the accused was arrested, charged, voluntary and cautionary statements were obtained from him and confessed to the said crime. The prosecution officer then applied to tender the statements into evidence to be marked as exhibit  which was done.

Meanwhile, the accused person pleaded “guilty” before the court. Magistrate E. Colley said based on the unequivocal guilty plea of the accused, he would be convicted. The accused person pleaded to the court formercy and then asked the complainant to forgive himsaying it won’t happen again.
The matter was later adjourned for sentencing.
