Police Deny Rumor of Arresting Man WithHuman Head

The Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force, ASP Binta Njie, has strongly rejected rumors on social media that police have arrested a man with human head at Kerewan in the North Bank Region.

News circulating on social media handles on Monday, January 5, 2024, has it that the police in Kerewan station have arrested a man with a human head suspected to be killing children around the locality of Njawara village, NBR, and its surrounding.

In her response to the speculations, Binta Njie told the Voice newspaper that the news wasbased on false information.

“However, we had information that three children were sent to their mother’s garden. They allegedly saw a man with a knife and a cutlass, who they believed was chasing them. The children reported the matter to the police station in Kerewan, and the man was arrested, but during his arrest, none of the weapons mentioned was recovered from him,” she explained.

Police PRO further informed this medium that the man is currently with the police in Kerewan and charged with ‘threatening violence’ contrary to section 84 of the criminal code.

She said audios going around the social media in relation to this incident are inaccurate and advised public to desist from such.
