Kuntaur Area Council Chair Fails to Return from US Despite Ultimatum

The Chairman of Kuntaur Area Council, SaikouJawara, has yet to return home to assume his responsibilities despite a 24-hour ultimatum that was issued by the General Council four days ago.

The General Council of Kuntaur Area Council on Tuesday`​ passed a resolution against Chairman Jawara’s “protracted” stay in the US. The resolution requested Jawara to return to work within 24 hours or declare his position vacant.

Jawara did not, however, return to The Gambia at the time of going to press, this medium has gathered.

According to sources, the General Council in September of last year gave Chairman Jawara 14 days to travel to the US to attend a series of meetings but Jawara later wrote back to the council to request for the extension of his stay to complete his assignment. 

According to the CEO of Kuntaur Area Council, Mr. Momodou Sambou, the chairman and delegation left The Gambia for the US on an invitation to attend a series of meetings from August of last year to January of this year.
