Gambians urged to avoid political opportunist

Hagie Suwaneh, one of the former contestants in the past National Assembly election in Basse Constituency has urged Gambians to avoid political opportunists that are everywhere in the country.

In an interview, he told this medium that politics of morality and integrity is what The Gambia needs not politics of personal gain.

He said the United Democratic Party (UDP) is a committed party that always fights for the well-being and progress of Gambians and the party is determined to be the next government of The Gambia to change the lives and livelihoods of the citizens.

“We cannot be distracted from any cause, it is clear for all to see that under President Adama Barrow’s government, there is a whole sectoral failure, ranging from agriculture to health, education, security, energy others. These failures are stifling the Gambian populace from progress,” he claimed.

According to him, considering the current situation of the country anyone who now joins NPP, at this time, is not for anything other than personal interest.

He said the recently passed 2024 budget is a testimony that the Barrow government lacks concern for citizens as far as the country is concerned.

“The 2024 budget heralds hard times ahead for the Gambians, particularly the poorest amongst us, we should not expect anything different from this government because there is no direction, purpose, and integrity from the top, so expect the worst,” Suwaneh lamented.

In an unsatisfied voice, he said “We must not allow opportunists to use our name to enrich themselves or lobby for positions by pretending to advocate for solutions to the hardship and challenges facing the youths.’

Hagie Suwaneh continued that “they claimed to be the voice of the youths but only to make a U-turn and support the same system that is killing all hopes of the youths, destroying our institutions and encouraging corruption.”
