Magistrate E. Colley Grants Accused Person Bail After Pleaded Not Guilty for Unlawfully Entering a Compound and Willfully Damage Property

For allegedly entering a compound and damage property contrary to law, a Gambian national Dembo Komma, was arraigned before Magistrate E. Colley on two criminal counts of unlawfully entering one Mariama Jallow’spremises and willfully damaging a property. After reading the charges against him in Kanifing Magistrate Court, Dembo Komma pleaded not guilty.

According to the statement of offense count one, DemboKomma committed criminal trespass contrary to section 285A (a) of the criminal code Cap10:01. Dembo Kommafor that you did on the 02nd day of November 2023 at Dippa Kunda in the Kanifing Municipality,  you unlawfully enter the compound of one Mariama Jallow with intent to commit offense or to intimidate,  insult or annoy her, thereby commit an offence,” stated by the police charge sheet. 

Count two indicated that, Dembo willfully destroyed the window door of Mariama Jallow valued D2000, thereby committed an offence contrary to section 312 of criminal code Cap10:01 volume III laws of the Gambia 2009.

However, Magistrate E Colley granted the accused bale on conditions to provide D10, 000 with two Gambian sureties and most report himself to the Serekunda Police station.
