The Gambian leader has given a strong promise that the entire country will gain access to electricity in two years’ time.
According to President Barrow, universal electricity access will be guaranteed before2025.
He made this undertaking on Monday as he received at his Mankamang Kunda home therepresentatives of communities from the Central River Region.
President Barrow recalled that the provision of electricity in all parts of the country was part of his 2021 campaign promise.
“I made a promise during the 2021 presidential campaign that every village in the country either on a mountain or on land will have electricity,” Mr. Barrow recollected.
“The opposition was saying he is just fooling you because he just needed your votes but today, containers with electricity poles are continuously coming. The electricity poles are coming all over the country and I have four electricity projects, which are all under implementation,” Barrow told the visitors.
Meanwhile, President Barrow announced during the meeting with community reps. that he will embark upon a nationwide tour after his annual leave to gather ground truths about his development projects underway.
