Njawara United FC crown Champion of Lower Badibou North Tournament

Njawara United FC has been crowned winner of the Lower Badibou North Champion in the just concluded football tournament in the region, during the final match played on Saturday.

The final was played between Njawara United FC and Kerr Bano FC at Njawara Football Ground of North Bank Region and it was organized by Njawara Development Committee, Njawara Development Society, and Diaspora.

The tournament was meant to foster mutual understanding and cooperation among youths in Lower Badibou North.

The tournament as sponsored by the people of Njawarawas the first tournament where all participating teams were provided the opportunity to take part free of charge.

Pa Pannehalkalo of Njawara expressed delight at the level of cooperation shown audience, noting that this would enhance mutual understanding and work towards bringing positive development projects that can transform the lives and livelihood of the people in Lower Badibou North.

He disclosed that a total of D21,000 was mobilized towards the participation of all eight teams. He noted that the move taken by citizens in consultation with 12 communities within Lower Badibou can effectively bring meaningful development and unity among the population. 

He disclosed that the community has provided land for the construction of the mini stadium, and skills center while calling on the Ministry of Youths and Sports and Higher Education to support this initiative.

Mustapha Touray, Chairman of the Njawara Village Development Committee underscored the significance of working with youths to harness their potential and promote social cohesion and development. He disclosed that throughout the tournament, the sports committee didn’t encounter indiscipline from any players and their supporters. 

 Alagie Joof Kerewan ward Councilor, Lamin Sowe, Chairman of the tournament all made positive comments about the tournament and the performances of the teams.

 Muhamed Sidibeh, Coach for Kerr Bano FC said the team reaching the final was a big achievement, noting that it is a first appearance in such competition with 7 points. 

Balalo Touray, Assistant Coach to Njawara United FC said throughout the tournament his team didn’t concede defeat.

Njawara United FC defeated Kerr Bano FC by 2 goals to 1 and received a giant trophy and D12,000 cash while Kerr Bano FC received a trophy and D6,000 cash
