The chief of Central Badibou has underscored the traditional and customary administration as an important pillar in promoting social cohesion, fostering mutual understanding, and building consensus toward addressing problems.

Chief Alagie Jagne was speaking recently in Kerewan during the handing over of an appointment letter to the new chief of Upper Badibou Alhaji Mustapha Dibba of Farafenni by Governor Lamin Saidykhan.

He noted that district chiefs play an important role in strengthening government policies and programs and ensuring fair dispensation of free and transparent justice.

Chief Jagne called on the people of Upper Badibou to support Chief Mustapha Dibba in the maintenance of law and order.

Commenting on the 2023 farming season he thanked the government for providing much-needed support to farmers in the form of rice, maize, groundnut, and cowpea high-yielding varieties and reduction on cost of fertilizer.

He described the support as unprecedented and called on herders and shepherds to control their animals.

Chief Jagne disclosed that the tribunal has zero tolerance for animals intruding into farms and a fine of D700 per head is the fine while reiterating the need for crop farmers to desist from encroaching into cattle tracks.
