Former Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, Yankuba Colley, and his team apologized to Amie Bensouda over a solicitor statement made at their press conference held on the 7th of March 2023.

Speaking during the press conference held at Hon Colley’s residence in Tallinding, Colley said “It is somehow worrisome but to us the time the statement was given was not intentional to defame Mrs. Amie Bensouda. It was out of context that the statement was made and we equally feel that it is wrong.”

“We decided to apologize as she wanted. I don’t want to make a long statement but all we ask for is her forgiveness,” the former Mayor apologized.

Allagie Momodou Jaiteh, former Deputy Mayor of KMC expressed gratitude to Madam Bensouda for her understanding and gave them a second option, noting they don’t want to be dragged to court because they are busy.

“We sat over it and discussed exhaustively on the issue as we all know that human beings are bound to make mistakes. The statement was not intentional or prejudicial; we have swallowed our pride and apologized.”

On his part, Momodou Lamin Badjie, former Councilor of Ebo Town Ward, added “I spoke on behalf of the Councilors Association during the press conference. We have decided to come out formally and apologize to Amie Bensouda for the statement made previously. On behalf of the organization we apologized and we will make sure that her name will not be mentioned in any forum henceforth,” he assured.
