The Kanifing Municipal Council KMC, last Thursday donated the sum of one hundred thousand dalasi cash to various fire victims within KM). The donation was realised following a request made by the municipality Disaster Coordinator Mr. Jeng to support the fire outbreak victims.
The donation was only for the fire victims and was geared to ease their burden especially during the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking at the presentation held the council ground; Mr. NGange Jeng said the gesture is to reduce the burden on the fire victims
He said KMC is very prone to disasters, for the fact that during the rainy season the region experienced flood, storms while during the dry season there happened to be too many fire outbreaks.
He recalled: “ for this year is no exception, from December 2022 today the Municipal Disaster coordinator office has so far recorded (16)households affected with fire outbreak with a total population of almost 297 and out of that 16 households, we only supported one household .”
He seized the opportunity to thank the Management of KMC for this laudable gesture despite challenges
For his part, lamin Dibba councillor for Bakau Cape point Ward commended the leadership of the KMC for this gesture. He described the gesture as very timely for the fact that people are coming toward the Holy Month of Ramadan.
He also advised the beneficiaries to make the best use of this money as everything is expensive. He further acknowledged and appreciates the efforts of the KMC in supporting these affected victims.
