Five arraigned for alleged Murder

PW1 Yunusa Kah, a taxi driver who drives around Palma Rima Road, on Wednesday, testified before Justice Isatou Janneh of Kanifing High Court in the ongoing murder trial of Muhammed Touray.

In his testimony, Kah explained to the court that he was sitting in his car around 8 to 9 pm when one Ebrima Njie came and asked him to assist him to carry his friend, Muhammed Touray who was stabbed at the beach. 

Kah said he told Ebrima that his car cannot go to the beach but if Ebrima can bring Muhammed to where his car was he can help in taking him to the hospital. He added that was the time Ebrima brought Muhammed Touray and he took them in his car to the Kanifing General Hospital.

He continued that “When we reach the hospital, the doctor confirmed to us that Muhammed Touray died before arriving at the hospital. That was when we left the hospital for the police station and upon our arrival at the police station my statement was taken by the police.”

Meanwhile, Council Barrow for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th accused were questioned and if the witness can recognize the four accused and he replied ‘no’ saying at the time he was called by Ebrima he did not see them.

The witness was later discharged by the court while the State applied for an adjournment to call prosecution witness two.

However, the accused statement of offense is that Baba Camara 1st, Alasana Sowe 2nd, Assan Conteh 3rd, Modou Lamin Dahaba 4th, and Omar Darboe 5th accused are charged with three counts offence. Count one felony, count two robberies, and count three, murder.

According to the particulars of their offence Baba Camara, Alasana Sowe, Assan Conteh, Modou Lamin Dahaba, and Omar Darboe on or about the 27th of March 2022, at Palma Rima Beach, Senegambia in Kanifing Municipal Council conspired amongst themselves to rob, whilst with dangerous or offensive weapon robbed and with malice aforethought caused the death of Muhammed Touray by stabbing him with a knife.

Meanwhile, Justice Isatou Jallow has adjournment the matter to 16th February for prosecution witness two to testify.
