4H Gambia and its partner, 4H Norway on Thursday organised a one-day annual meeting with donors from Norway in Farafenni, North Bank Region.
The management and board of directors described the joint meeting as important in strengthening good governance and promoting active participation in project implementation. The meeting witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between 4H Gambia and 4H Norway for 2023.
Alieu Ceesay, National Program Director for 4H Gambia said the review of the semi-annual report with partners from Norway and beneficiary’s youth clubs has demonstrated their commitment to promoting a holistic approach to the execution of the project objective.
He as well described the outcomes of the annual meeting as positive, noting that the 2023 work plan considered the welfare of women and youths.
The 2022 meeting will further strengthen and enhance a broader understanding of the programmes and projects implemented by 4H Gambia. The Program Director used the moment to thank 4H Norway for their outstanding, contributions and support to the implementation of their projects.
Mr. Tor Martin Stenseng, chairperson of Resource Group of 4H Norway expressed satisfaction with the management and board of directors of 4H Gambia for building partnerships with government and development partners.
He noted the move taken by 4H Gambia on the implementation of climate change projects and tree planting projects, citing Dobo Forest Park through the Global Climate Change Alliance GCCA Project also known as the Restoration of Dobo Forest Park, and enhancing community participation.
He disclosed that as part of promoting cultural ties, a team of youths from Norway will be visiting the Gambia to interact with youths and host families. The initiative is part of fostering cooperation between two organisations of empowering youths and women.
Commenting on the revolving scheme of supporting youths in entrepreneurship, 4H Gambia and Norway are looking at all possibilities of intensifying resource mobilization to expand the scope of allocation of the envelope that can help youths to stay and contribute to the development of their communities.
Musa Samura, the National Board chairman of 4H Gambia thanked 4H Norway for their support of the development of youths and environmental protection. The board of directors commended the management for their commitment to accelerating the 4H Gambia development agenda. He noted that the support in the fight against COVID-19 by 4H Norway demonstrated their concern for the protection of the population.
Musa Chaw Admin and Finance and Abdoulie S Jallow 4H Gambia Field Coordinator made a presentation on the Global Environment Facility and dilated on the importance of the climate change project and its impact on the lives of communities. 4H Gambia believes in partnership and networking, to enhance openness through collaboration, they added.
Ndey Camara, a Cashier at Sinchu Pallen Taku Leggeh group, and Fatim Jobe of Kani Kunda of Sabach Sanjal district all thanked the 4H Gambia and its partners for promoting a revolving scheme for small businesses. The duos called for an increase in resource allocation to support small businesses.
