Bakau youth on rampage in search of alleged killer of Omar Sonko AKA Go-Back

Bakau youth yesterday went on a rampage in search of the alleged killer of Omar Sonko AKA Go-Back who was said to have gone missing since last Friday.

Responsible for this act was news that hit the Bakau town about a discovered dead body in Brusubi while their efforts in search of the nook and crannies of Bakau for the alleged suspect went futile they then descended on the Bakau Police Station where they said suspected arrestee over the case of a taxi driver from Bakau who went missing some days back was kept.

At the Bakau Police Station, the suspect who is identified as Mohammed Thomas, 46 natives of Banjul residing in Brusubi was nowhere to be found in or within the station but information received by the Protestants was that he was moved to an unknown place.

However, before Police could address the youth, they already descended on the police station to destroy everything in sight in their search for the suspect.

In this event, an official of PIU arrived at the scene to disperse the crowd which was formed by youths of Bakau and other sympathisers fighting for justice with teargas.

More so, at the compound of the victim in Katchikally, Bakau, the operative of the PIU who was trying to chase away the youth as well threw some teargas at the people around after some hours of chasing away the youth and sympathisers that proved abortive.

Meanwhile, at the Police Station in the refusal of the Protestants to disperse PIU used teargas to chase people away while in retaliation the youth threw stones and other objects at the police station.

More so, one of the members of the press covering the rampage was stoned to bleed while other people got wounded, and fainted while some arrested was made.
