Scores of Middle East migrants have launched a fresh call appealing to the Inspector General of Police to regulate the unauthorized traveling agencies in the country.

In an exclusive with the voice, Hassan Bah, a migrant said: The Police IGP should regulate all the unauthorized traveling Agencies in the country as it will contribute to minimizing the illegal actions of some of the traveling agencies that are run by so-called agents.

“If the IGP is able to tackle these issues in the Gambia, a lot of migrants will not be victims of human exploitation.  The IGP should set up a patrol team to check all these agencies and check the services they offer to poor Gambian youth who are desperate to travel.

“You will be surprised to know that a lot of agencies are operating in the Gambia without paying tax. They are doing illegal business taking people’s money in exchange for false promises. The majority of them don’t even have a business license.”

Most of the victims who spoke to this medium including Lamin Camara, and Muhammad Jabbie narrated their ordeals while appealing to the IGP to take note of their concerns.
