ActionAid Juffureh Office organises Sponsorship Fun Day for children

ActionAid International The Gambia Juffureh Office of LRP 9 on Sunday organised a Fun Day for students on the theme Protect a child for a better future within Upper Nuimi in the North Bank Region.

The event was used to appreciate students for their invaluable support in working with ActionAid in different areas which included the collection of children’s profiles and writing messages among others.

The event was held in Albreda Upper and Senior Secondary School of North Bank Region. The program was attended by teachers, coordinators, and mother clubs.

Binta Njie Kalleh, ActionAid International Sponsorship Coordinator described the day as important, noting that it formed part of their annual plan of activities. She noted that ActionAid recognised the enormous contribution of students in accelerating sponsorship programme to support the well-being of children and families. She used the moment to thank parents, children and school authorities for their support of the sponsorship scheme.

Saikou Darboe, Local Rights Program 9 Manager underscored ActionAid commitment to the welfare of children to explore their potential through educational development. He noted that the Theme strongly advocated for the total protection of the child to have a better future. Darboe uses the moment to thank students, parents, and teacher coordinators for their support of the Sponsorship program and called on students to make the best of the opportunities provided to enhance educational development.

Pa Modou Sallah Cluster Monitor in the area thanked Action Aid for complementing government efforts in the education sector, noting that the Sponsorship program has enhanced the effective learning and performance of students.

He said the fun day will provide enable students to build friendships and learn about each other culture and traditions. The event was punctuated with performances of traditional and cultural displayed by different tribes.

Kebba K Sonko President of Hakalang Senela Kafo of Upper Nuimi said the synergy help students to build friendships while he thanked ActionAid for capacity enhancement.
