One Ousman Jallow, a resident of Gunjur, was on Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate Kanjura B. Sambou at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on charges of common assault and criminal trespass.
The accused was not represented by legal counsel, while 1st Class 7679 S. Sonko appeared for the Inspector General of Police.
Jallow faces two counts: common assault contrary to Section 195 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025 and criminal trespass contrary to Section 262 of the same Act.
According to the particulars of offence, Jallow allegedly assaulted Haddy Bah on June 6, 2026, at Gunjur Madina Sallam in the Kombo South District of the West Coast Region by hitting her on the neck with his hand.
On the second count, he is alleged to have unlawfully entered the compound of Haddy Bah on the same date with intent to intimidate, annoy, and assault her.
The accused, who was read the charges in English and had them interpreted to him, pleaded not guilty to both counts.
The prosecution applied for an adjournment to secure witnesses and did not oppose bail.
Magistrate Kanjura B. Sambou granted the accused bail in the sum of D30,000 with one Gambian surety. The surety is required to deposit a valid national identity card or passport with the court registrar and guarantee the accused’s appearance in court.
The case was adjourned to July 13, 2026, for the hearing of prosecution witness one.
