Alhagie Basiru Gassama, an ex-intelligent officer in the first republic has applauded President Adama Barrow for sending Tobaski message to the opposition leaders.

Speaking to this medium on Monday, Gassama said he’s very much impressed with the Tobaski message sent by the president to the opposition leaders who also responded maturely and positively.

If they split (Adama Barrow and Ousainu Darboe) he said, and “come together at the time of celebration of Tobaski whereby we ask for each other’s forgiveness and pray for each other, I applauded them for that. I am also impressed that Dou Sano welcomed it by showing the people that Darboe is the political father of Mr. Barrow,” Gassama expressed delights.

He went on that “this is in the best interest of The Gambia because we are just from the transactional period of TRRC investigations. The results are out and the government is implementing the white papers. At this juncture, Gambians need reconciliation. How can they reconcile without talking to each other.”?

Gassama pointed out that if the oppositions stood together for 22 good years and removed Jammeh, then they should maintain that unity and forget their political interests. “I am urging Darboe and all the other political leaders to come together to work things out.”

He noted that NPP is a party for all and UDP is a united Party, so, “Let them continue talking, and one day they might settle their differences.”
