Kanifing East, Gunjur Utd win in GFF Cup round of 16 fixtures

Kanfing East and Gunjur United became the latest teams to team together with Immigration FC to book their places into the next round of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) FF Cup tournament after winning their round of 16 matches played on Monday.

Kanifing East became the first team to win their fixture after defeating Dibba Oil 1-0 during a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Sunday.

The Eastern boys, Kanifing who currently sit 6th position with 39 points in the second division league now progress into the next stage of the FF Cup competition, while the Lower River Region-based Dibba Oil who are having a poor run of form in the second tier league are now being eliminated in the tournament.

Dibba Oil currently sit 11th position with 33 points in the second division league.

Elsewhere, Gunjur United thrashed Medical 4-0 during their FF Cup game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Monday.

The Coastal Town boys, Gunjur United, progressed into the next round of the tournament after recording a big win, while the Central River Region-based team Medical FC are out of the competition.

Gunjur United are sitting 9th position with 35 points in the GFF second tier league, while Medical FC is occupying 12th position with 30 points.

Immigration beat struggling side Jam City 7-6 in a post-match penalty shootout following a goalless draw in regulation during a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Monday.

The Immigration side who are having a good run now booked their place into the next round of the competition, while the struggling Jambanjelly-based team Jam City are eliminated out of the competition.

Immigration sit 5th position with 39 points, while Jam City occupied rock bottom (18th) position with 20 points in the GFF second division league.

At the time of going to press yesterday on Tuesday, Team Rhino were playing against Brikama United at the Late Ousman Saho Field; GAF were entertaining Gamtel FC during the earlier game at the Independence Stadium in Bakau before Wallidan taking on Banjul United in the late encounter.
