Three drug traffickers in DLEAG custody

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested three men over trafficking illegal drugs across the country.

“As DLEAG intensify the crusade on illicit trafficking and related crimes, operatives took into custody three suspects arrested for possession of various quantities suspected prohibited drugs in the West Coast and Upper River Regions.

“One of the suspects identified as 44 years old called Samba Jawo of Sarre Samba Tako village was arrested for the cultivation of thirteen (13) plants of suspected cannabis sativa on the 31 May 2022 around 11:45 hours GMT onwards at Sari Samba Takko. The said suspected cannabis plants were discovered in the midst of his garden,” DLEAG disclosed.

“It can be recalled that this is not the first time that operatives are arresting people for using their backyards, farms or gardens to clandestinely cultivate prohibited drugs. In this year alone, we have registered such similar cases in the Upper River Region and North Bank Region respectively.  In a similar but separate development, operatives discovered eleven (11) stones of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) inside a hidden compartment of a red golf vehicle with registration number BJL 9438 N. The incident occurred on the 30 May 2022 around 16:00 hours GMT Onwards at Bullock Police checkpoint.

‘A 20-year-old Ebrima Chatty and Abubacarr Jabbi who were in the vehicle were taken into custody as operatives further probe into their matter. 35 years old Lamin Suso was arrested in Sukuta on the 30 May 2022 around 12:30 hours GMT onwards with five (5) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa. He is also presently in custody as operatives conduct further investigations and processing,” DLEAG added.
