GAF hands over confiscated drugs to NDLEAG

The Gambia Armed Forces has announced the handing over three bags of confiscated cannabis to narcotic officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency of Gambia (NDLEAG) at the Defense Headquarters in Banjul, last Friday.

The handing over was witnessed by Military Police Provost Marshal, Narcotic Control Deputy Commissioner for West Coast Region, Narcotic Control Officer Commanding Kombo South, and host of other GAF officers and other ranks.

“On Friday 18 March 2022, the Military Police wing of the Gambia Armed Forces handed over 3 bags each containing 25 big bundles of the notorious Cannabis Sativa to narcotic officers of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency of Gambia (NDLEAG) at the Defense Headquarters in Banjul.

“The handing over ceremony was witnessed by Military Police Provost Marshal, Narcotic Control Deputy Commissioner for West Coast Region, Narcotic Control Officer Commanding Kombo South, and host of other GAF officers and other ranks. The team later moved to Kartong Naval Post to witness further delivery of confiscated items including canoe, one 15 HP Yamaha outboard engine and a 30-liter jerry can contain 15-liter worth of fuel,” army said in a statement.

“It could be recalled that in January 2021, Gambia Navy personnel at the Kartong Navy Outpost impounded a local canoe with 3 bags of suspected Cannabis Sativa, a 30-liter jerry can contain 15-liter worth of fuel and a 15 HP Yamaha outboard engine during one of their routine satellite patrols along the Halahin Bolong. Investigations were carried out by GAF officials and the conclusion of the investigation is what resulted to the handing over of the confiscated items to NDLEAG as the body responsible for drugs and drug related issues,” added in the statement from the GAF.
