4H GAMBIA holds Annual National Gathering

A local NGO called 4H Gambia affiliated with 4H Norway has organized annual National gathering for members to review progress and challenges of the organization.

The convergence was held at Farafenni General Hospital on the theme: Networking and Partnership in the North Bank Region. The meeting form part of annual plan of activities in strengthening governance structure and provided opportunity for 4H Youths club members to accounts for their past activities.

Alieu Ceesay, National Program Director of 4H Gambia, underscored NGO commitment in complementing government efforts in youths’ development, environmental protection and enterprise development. He noted that the presentation of 2021 annual reports and discourse of 2022 annual work plan aimed to strengthen information sharing.

He hailed the organisation’s cordial relationship with Norwegian partner and the concept of 4H club  which aimed at strengthen youths capacity at community and Lower Basic Schools in NBR and CRR.

Musa Samura, Board chairman described the annual gathering as fundamental in strengthening governance and public accountability to enhance better coordination and information sharing amongst staff and stakeholders.  He noted that the board will continue to provide leadership guidance to 4H Gambia management in accelerating respond to the growing needs of youths.

Musa Chaw, Administrative and Finance Officer at 4H Gambia presented financial report and noted that the agency submitted audited financial report to NGO Affairs and TANGO.  He noted that the intervention assisted communities with cereal banking, animal husbandry, mobile phone credit business, soap making among others. Mr. Chaw said plan is in place to organise 4H Gambia to conduct National Camp for all clubs to present their activities and share their challenges.

Momodou A Jallow, Project Manager GCCA Project on the Restoration of Dobo Forest Park and enhance community participation said the project has supported in strengthening Joint Forest Park Management Committee on effective management of forest.

He quickly thanked the Regional Forestry Office in Kerewan for their technical support to the implementation of the project while he informed the meeting that a borehole was drilled, fencing of the park is in progress. Added that, the project aims at transforming and enhance regeneration of forest cover and create sanctuary for wildlife species.
