15 people die of Covid-19 related disease

The Ministry of Health has released that fifteen [15] people have died of coronavirus related diseases while noted that four other people infected with covid-19 are on hospital oxygen.

However, the Ministry also said nine hundred and fifty-three [953] people infected with coronavirus have been discharged from their treatment centres.

As stated in the issue “418th national situation report since the confirmation of the first case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in The Gambia, on the 16th March 2020. Fifteen (15) new COVID-19-related death registered, bringing the total to 362 (Crude Case-Fatality. Ratio, 3.1%) A total of 270 new cases were registered (Cumulative cases 11,842)”.

“The test positivity rate is 8.1% (270/3324), NPHL – 3224 (245 positives) and MRCG – 100 (25 Positives). Four (4) cases are currently on oxygen therapy. A total of 953 cases were discharged after at least 10 days from the day they tested positive but evaded institutional isolation and 29 from COVID-19 treatment centres,” the Ministry added in the released.

“As of 24th January 2022, the following number of people have been vaccinated with:  Johnson & Johnson: Only 1 dose: 282,509, Sinopharm: Dose 1: 4,507, Dose 2: 3,329, AstraZeneca: Dose 1: 40,680, Dose 2: 28,692

“TARGET POPULATION (based on microplanning estimates – 1,564,214) Proportion of target population fully vaccinated (2 doses of AZ/Sinopharm OR 1 dose of J&J): 20.0%. Proportion of target population that received at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose (AZ OR J&J OR Sinopharm): 20.9%

“TOTAL POPULATION (Based on final MoH population projections for 2021 – 2,438,899), Proportion of total population fully vaccinated (2 doses of AZ/Sinopharm OR 1 dose of J&J): 12.9%, Proportion of total population that received at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose (AZ OR J&J OR Sinopharm): 13.4%,” it continued.
