Covid-19: 206 people test positive

The Ministry of Health has said in its covid-19 latest situational report that 206 people tested positive for coronavirus but added that three covid-19 positive patients escaped from treatment.

In detail, the statement read that “This is the 414th national situation report since the confirmation of the first case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in The Gambia, on the 16th March 2020. No new COVID-19 related death registered, bringing the total to 343 (Crude Case-Fatality Ratio, 3.37%). A total of 206 new cases were registered (Cumulative cases 10,376).

“Three (3) cases absconded from Covid-19 treatment centres. Twelve (12), 18, 24, 67 and 85 cases were reported on the 27th, 28th, 29th 30th & 31st respectively. The test positivity rate is 12.47% (206/1652), NPHL – 1,546 (154 positives) and MRCG – 106 (52 Positives). One case is currently on oxygen therapy.

“Twenty-eight (28) cases were discharged after at least 10 days from the day they tested positive but evaded institutional isolation and eight (8) from COVID-19 treatment centres. As of 28th December 2021, the following numbers of people have been vaccinated with: Johnson & Johnson: Only 1 dose: 239,754. Sinopharm: Dose 1: 4,505 Dose 2: 3,317. AstraZeneca: Dose 1: 40,680. Dose 2: 28,560,” it added.
