Lamin Darbo Kani Kunda to appear in court, charged with 5-count offence

Police have charged Lamin Darbo alias Kani Kunda, 47, with five counts of offence including incitement of violence and supporting acts of terrorism.

Police spokesman Superintendent Lamin Njie told The Voice exclusively that the accused is expected to appear in a court of law as soon as possible.

His offences range from “incitement of violence, publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm to the public. Prohibition of acts of terrorism, supporting acts of terrorism and false publication and broadcasting,” Lamin Njie stated.

As usual,  “the police wish to once again warn all that we will not allow this country to fall into a state of lawlessness. Any individual or group found wanting will be dealt with strictly according to Law. We continue to thank members of the public for collaborating with the police in the sharing of vital information at all times,” he warned and expressed gratituted.

The 47-year-old suspect was arrested by the Police Special Investigations Unit on Tuesday 8th December 2021 after police launched a swift investigation into a viral audio in which he called for violence to burn down The Gambia.
