Angry Mob Smashes Vehicle Involved In Road Accident

Angry mob have smashed the vehicle that involved in an accident at the Illiasa main junction that connects Farafenni, Kerewan and beyond. The incident occurred on the second day of Eid il Fitr at Illiasa.

The vehicle with registration number BJL 5618 S, around 10 to 11am, knocked down a motorcycle that carried three people.

The Vice President of Farafenni Transport Control Association has used the occasion of the ugly incident to cautioned people from taking law into their hands by attacking drivers or destroying their vehicles when accident occur.

Modou Cham speaking to The Voice newspaper in Farafenni on Sunday aftermath of the accident occurred in Illiasa said members of the transport association visited the scene and demand for protection of drivers, to avoid the threatening of the people with the aim of killing the driver, Babou Njie who involved in the accident despite the smashed of all his vehicle windscreens.

He used the moment to call on residents on the main highway to respect traffic rules and report all cases to transport association and Police.

According to the driver, Babou Njie, the driver said the motorcycle carrying three people failed to stop at the main junction and all the three were knocked down and sustained injuries.

The victims were taken to Illiasa Minor Health Centre and referred to Farafenni General Hospital for treatment. Babou Njie said he ran away for his life to about 2kilometres from Illiasa to Alkali Kunda main junction to escape from the angry mob.
