Currently, he said “we are having the AstraZeneca vaccine, received and it is 36,000 dozes followed by another 15,000 vaccine that we just received recently from South Africa.”

This numbers, he said it is not much compared to the set target as a country whereby 60% of the population should be vaccinated and this will amounts to 1,300,000 plus.

According to the prioritized list, people who have high chances to contact the virus would be vaccinated first and this includes health workers, frontline workers people at age of 65 and above among others.

He noted that their sensitization campagn is bearing fruit as turnout for the vaccine is increasing and President Adama Barrowt being the first person to take the vaccine alone is a good sensitization that should tell people to come and be vaccinated.”

He reiterated that the Ministry has in each community vaccine officials to sensitize people and vaccinate them.

According to him, there might be minimal side effect because there is no drug that did not have side effect.

In a clear voice, he said the AsraZeneca vaccine do not cause blood clotting “it is safe and confirmed by WHO.”
