Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) has conducted a study to know the risk factor surrounding covd-19 and the pacific target group that will be affected of disease as the country begin to experience second wave of covid-19.
On Tuesday the national assembly select committee on health visited Edward Francish Small Teaching Hospital as part of their nationwide tour to know some of the challenges in testing centers and how to overcome them.
The Head of Covid-19 coordinating team has disclosed the EFSTH readiness to reveal the risk factor of Covid-19 as cases is gradually increasing in this second wave of the pandemic.
Dr Mustapha Bittaye speaking on Tuesday when the National Assembly select committee on health visited Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital as part of their nationwide tour to know some of the challenges at testing centers in the country and how to overcome them.
He said at the end of the first surge they did a study to review all the patients that were admitted in the hospital to know the risk factors in order to know the type of individual that were at risk to get the disease and might eventually die out of the disease.
He said the study will soon be out while mentioning few of the risk factors surrounding covid-19 in the country.
This, he said includes age above sixty years and they are at risk of dying, diabetic patients and if a person on oxygen circulation is less than or equal to 93%.
According to him, since begin of the pandemic EFSTH set up a covid-19 coordinating team that involve all the department to give an update to head of the coordinating team and Chief Medical Director.
Since the start of the pandemic, he said they have been issuing weekly report to the chief medical director concerning the people that are screened, the number of positive cases likewise the number of dead.
Among their challenges, he outlined motivation, lacks of oxygen, PPEs, nonetheless, he said they have infection control unit that ensure that infection is control.
