Scores of Gambians accuse President Barrow for flouting Covid-19 regulations in his tour

Scores of Gambians have lambasted President Adama Barrow over what they described as flouting coronavirus regulations that seek to curb its spread during his recently ended meet-the-people-tour.

Malang Darboe, Senegambia Craft Market said: “Covid-19 is getting serious in our neighbouring countries when our president is busy gathering crowd within thinking of the statements, he once made regarding the Covid-19 regulations.”

He added: “Peoples have not recovered from there loses and the sufferings they encounter due to the pandemic lockdown but our able president is roaming with his cabinet ministers and they know the possibilities of them spreading the various are very high.”

Manager of Back Garden Restaurant, Musa Fatty said: “if the government is capable of breaking laws, then what do they expect from the citizens in terms of adhering to the roles and regulations because it seems like they don’t care about the welfare of their people and that should be their number one priority.”

He said the money spent on the tour could be given to the citizens because businesses are still on standstill and the money given was not enough and nothing is normal especially the industry area.

Mama Njie described the government as a disappointed saying: “because they don’t care about the citizens. Countries are going through hard times and Gambia is not an exception so before they spoiled all that cash, they could have at least invested it into something g useful at any cost.”

 “Other countries are going through the second wave of Covid-19 how prepared is Gambia government because they know very well that fighting this pandemic required too much of resources and is the duty of the government to protect its citizens at all times,” she said.
