Police have confirmed the death of five people in the Jagil village’s car accident as they already launched an investigation into the matter.
“We can confirm the Accident that occurred at Jagil Village, Foni Berefet, West Coast Region. According to reports reaching us 5 people have been confirmed dead and 13 others sustained injuries.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that, the driver, Buba Bah was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, running into a crowd of young people. He is currently helping the Police in their investigations. The Gambia Police Force is seriously concerned about road traffic accidents. To this effect, we wish to caution drivers to ensure that, they observe speed limits, employ due care and attention while driving at all times,” Lamin Njie, police spokesman said.
He added: “individuals found wanting of violating the Motor Traffic Act and Regulations will be dealt with, in accordance with the law.”
